visit Scotland to practice and of course we really enjoyed offering him the best of
Scottish hospitality and the occasional finest Scottish whisky.
We intend to continue to follow his way although we are a long way behind like all
of you!
For all of his family and friends who are left behind we join you in grief but also immense
satisfaction at the legacy left for all us to follow...a man with passion, respect, dignity,
humility, understanding, integrity and honour and a man who is a pleasure to be with
regardless of language barriers.

For me, the most memorable aspect of Kato-sensei's practice of Aikido was his unique
body movement. He created a feeling that changed between being incredibly subtle to
one that completely overwhelmed you in a wave of pure energy. Sensei's kindness,
generosity, good humour and humility will stay with me. I will endeavour to do my part in
keeping his spirit alive.
