Condolences from Texas and Mexico – Shudokan Aikido Association
We have had many hundreds of condolences from all over the world. These listed below
are just a representation of the greater number we have received. We pass these on to
the family from Texas, Mexico and other friends of Shudokan around the world. Kato
Sensei was one of the most wonderful people we ever met. His presence filled the room
with his joy and laughter. His love of Aikido, his students, training and fellowship at
meals together we what we will never forget. We all loved Kato Sensei because he was
such a wonderful human being. We will always miss him and he will always live in our
hearts.

ージの中からほんの一部を以下にご紹介します。これらのお悔やみを、ここテキサス、
メキシコその他の世界各地の修道館の友人から先生のご家族にお伝えします。加藤先生
は、私たちがこれまでお会いした人々の中で最もすばらしい方のひとりです。先生がい
らっしゃるだけで部屋中が喜びと笑いで溢れました。合気道、自分の弟子、稽古、仲間
との会食をこよなく愛された先生のことを、私たちはけっして忘れません。加藤先生は
それほどすばらしい方でしたから、誰でも先生のことが大好きでした。先生を失った悲
しみはこれからも消えませんが、先生はいつまでも私たちの心の中に生き続けることで
しょう。

I have been honored to have known a few men that were "great" over the span of my
lifetime. Kato Sensei was one of those men that changed the world by sharing himself
with us over the last 20 years of his life. Even though I only was to be a student of Kato
Sensei for the last 7 years, those years were a great influence on me. This was not only
in my life but also in the lives of those in my group that Kato Sensei touched. His spirit will
touch others through us because of the teachings that he passed on to us. The kindness
and caring of an individual can affect other people’s lives for decades after they are gone,
and are what allows us all appreciate the things That Kato Sensei did in his time that
made him such a great man. He will be sorely missed, but he will never be forgotten by
those of us that he influenced.
